Our ‘Inspiring Women’ campaign aims to inspire and empower women from all walks of life. Every woman may have faced prejudice, personal challenges and barriers over the years, and it’s important to celebrate our achievements and build each other up!
Once a month for twelve months we will be asking a range of women to take part in answering our questions, passing on their experiences and knowledge to others.
Emma Wescott, Partnership Manager for Somerset and Devon Positive People, says: “International Women’s Day, celebrated on the 8th March talked about ‘an equal world is an enabled world, celebrating women’s achievement and raising awareness against bias’. I thought how amazing it would be to keep the campaign going for a year and celebrate women’s achievements, there are so many untold stories from local inspirational women. The aim is to inspire and motivate more women in our communities to achieve their dreams”.
The Positive People project can help women attain their dreams and ambitions, whether someone is out of work due to health, caring responsibilities, being a mum, they look to provide bespoke support and explore ways to achieve goals, whether this is work, returning to education or training, self-employment or improving confidence and connecting with others. Positive People aim’s to support people through their journey, striving to make what felt impossible, possible.
Please take the time to hear from our first two Inspiring Women, Dr Vikki Barnes and Julie Hawker. We’re incredibly grateful to both of them for taking part and we can’t wait to share with you the words of so many other amazing women over the coming months.
